Aramoana Surf Guide

Drive the 20 km out of Dunedin towards Port Chalmers and turn left to Spit Beach when you reach Aramoana. Nearby there are plenty of other options worth checking, including Penguin Beach and Murdering Bay. Other spots worth a look include Pipikaretu, Long Beach and Potato Point. There are also some damn fine waves in Aramoana. The Spit tends to turn it on in the warmer months, and is capable of producing epic waves, with hollow peaks breaking left and right all the way along the length of this picturesque beach. Powerful, grinding barrels are the order of the day here, and even when it's firing, you're likely to be sharing the experience with only a handful of other surfers in the frigid waters.
