Drive the 20 km out of Dunedin towards Port Chalmers and turn left to Spit Beach when you reach Aramoana. Nearby there are plenty of other options worth checking, including Penguin Beach and Murdering Bay. Other spots worth a look include Pipikaretu, Long Beach and Potato Point.
