Because of its easy access by both train and car, Kugenuma Beach is the most-surfed beachbreak in Japan, and its neighbor, Tsujidou Beach, is where just about every surfer in Tokyo first stood up. Tsujidou has two peaks: Shoumen and Dai-Ni. There are almost always easy, rideable wind swell waves, good for beginners. But when big low-pressure systems and typhoons are near, the surf IQ in the water shoots up dramatically. Read more
