South Shore - Ala Moana Park Surf Guide
The South Shore's Ala Moana area is comprised of several good spots. From east to west there is Kaisers, Rockpiles, Ala Moana Bowls, and Magic Island -- all within a half-mile stretch of coast. Each spot offers different wave options, ranging from rights and lefts to barrels and bowls. With each spot, however, comes healthy crowds of varying degrees of skill level.

All levels when small, but intermediate to advanced when over chest high.

Doable
Will range from spot-to-spot, but all are usually at least somewhat competitive. Humility and respect a must..

All the spots through town are pretty much always crowded at waist high or bigger, but early bird gets the worm sometimes.

Lots of consistently super fun breaks all within close-proximity of each other.

Nearby harbor, so pollution is always a factor, especially after significant rainfall.

Access
Access water to whichever spot you desire from the breakwater and channels, or paddle straight out from the little beach next to the Ala Moana parking lot across the shallow reef platform (a little sketchy on low tide).

Reef. Shallow and sharp for most of it.
Best Season
Summer. From around April through October.
