Pikinini Surf Guide

The hollow and ultra-shallow right-hander known at Pikinini is Kavieng's most famous wave. Known for its shacks and gnarly reef, the takeoff area is fairly deep, but the reef quickly shelves and jacks. The wave, which often gets bigger as it spins down the line, will get extremely shallow on the inside. At lower tides there is dry reef. Pikinini (which means 'child' in the local language) is not a big-wave spot, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with consistency and barrels.
