Haast Beach Surf Guide

The Haast area is situated alongside the Mt. Aspiring National Park, in the heart of the South West New Zealand World Heritage Area. This place is breathtakingly beautiful. Amazing scenery will keep your neck and head turning constantly. Check out the Fox Glacier, go tramping, jet-boating, take a helicopter ride, fish the Haast River, and maybe even have a surf at Haast Beach.

The beach itself is pristine, as you would expect in a World Heritage Area, and a few near-shore reefs help provide some stability to the sandbanks. Just as well too, since this area picks up an abundance of swell. There are a variety of peaks to choose from…and it'll be a big surprise if you're sharing the spot with anything other than the wildlife that this place is famous for. Enjoy the chilly serenity of a surf in these parts.
