Golf Course Reef Surf Guide

Ulladulla is a mecca for south coast surfers due to the variety of options it provides. One of the best waves can be found by driving through a golf course where you'll find a convenient car park.

Golf Course Reef is a quality left-hander. Featuring a fast, walling ride that pitches over a sharp ledging reef, it starts getting fun from three feet up, and can hold up to eight feet-plus. Golfies loves a bit of size, and just keeps getting better as the swell increases.

There are a couple of other options as well, including a right-hand reef just across the bay. This wave will hold sizeable swells and can get almost as good as Golfies. It's a good option to escape the crowd, and sometimes can be good on smaller days with the right swell direction when Golfies isn't working. It can pick up smaller northeast swells and will work on southwest to northwest winds.

For a hollower option you could try Crystals, but you'll need a reasonable size swell and the skills to match if you want to take it on. This place needs a full-on approach.

Nearby beachbreaks at Mollymook are a fun option for beginners.
