Franklin Street Surf Guide

Franklin Street is essentially a beachbreak that works best on wind swells. A reef off Mead Street breaks on larger groundswells. Both are consistent windswell spots and it's a good idea to look elsewhere during hurricane and winter groundswells. There is also is a long stretch of beach between these two breaks that breaks similarly, but surfing is restricted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The surf in Dade and Broward counties is almost always crowded. This area is mostly beachbreak, and although surfers tend to congregate, wind swell peaks break up and down the beach. The local vibe is mellow because few people who live in Dade or Broward counties are actually locals themselves. Sharks are present.
