Blaketown Wedge Surf Guide

Check out the southern breakwater built at the mouth of the Grey River and you'll find one of the best setups on the west coast. This place is the real deal, particularly in clean, long period swells and light offshore winds. The Wedge takes its name from the Oceanside suburb of Blaketown, and if you get this place when it's on, you're not likely to forget that fact. Pulling up at the car park with a brisk offshore and watching the wedge unload with a pristine A-frame, is definitely a sight to behold. From five feet up the wedge can really turn it on. It's predominantly a right, with longer walls and perhaps a slightly rounder tube. The lefts are definitely shorter but can also be punchier and can add some nice variety to your session.
