Ashdod Surf Guide

From the Ashdod Industrial Harbor in the north to the Marina of Ashdod in the south, the city of Ashdod is home to some of Israel’s best beachbreak surf, divided into three general spots: 1. Just next to the harbor’s jetty is The Shover (Hebrew for jetty), a sometimes-barreling right point that can turn into a world-class wave when the bank gets enough sand from the close-by Lachish River — best on ENE winds, but can handle N-NW; 2. In the middle, Lido Beach’s scattered A-frames break from knee to head-high, a bit more on the clean days, and work on any wind under 15kts; 3. Protected by the marina on the far south side is Hakshatot Beach, which can handle strong (25kt+) southerly winds and more size than most spots in Israel. The entire stretch is a bit more oriented towards the north, so it can handle NW swells, as well.
