About Myrtle Beach Surf Travel
Most of Myrtle is like anywhere else in South Carolina — one long stretch of beachbreak. During summer, surfing is restricted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but there are a few legal spots: between 38th and 44th avenues north and at 29th Avenue South. Twenty-ninth Avenue typically has better surf than most of Myrtle — particularly on a south swell. There is also marginally better, though murkier, surf at the creekmouth at the Holiday Inn in front of the Family Kingdom amusement park. Although, pollution here is now a known problem. You can often get away with surfing here, even during blackball hours, but it’s not recommended, and don’t surf too close to the piers or you might get a ticket.
